Newport citizens and various city and veterans association officials re-dedicated Highway 20 in Oregon as a Medal of Honor Highway – first with a ceremony at City Hall with WWII Veterans Robert Maxwell of Bend (seated center left) and Dick Tobiason (seated right) also of Bend. Highway 20 runs from the coast clear across Oregon, through Bend and then east all the way to Boston. Newport’s own Coast Guard Veteran man-about-town Tom McAdams was also present to take in the festivities.
The sign was temporarily erected at Highways 20 and 101 just to let folks see it early. It was later placed at its final location on Highway 20 westbound just beyond John Moore Road.
