Shirley Walker sat quietly over a table splayed with pink hearts, stickers and decorative images Monday, Jan. 16. She put the finishing touches on a customized valentine crafted for a stranger, but a hero nonetheless.
Walker and a handful of other volunteers spent Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the Scappoose Senior Center, making hand-crafted valentines for veterans throughout the region.
