EUGENE, Ore. – Bert Toepel was in the Army from 1952 to 1979.
He is both a Korean War and a Vietnam War veteran.
After Korea, Bert made one big change.
“I had decided, based on my Korean experience in the cold weather, that there was a better way of life than living in a tent at 20 below zero,” he said. “So I decided to try the aviation program.”
