Tune in May 22 for a Facebook Live featuring VA mental health apps and telemental offerings

Join VA’s Office of Connected Care and the Army Wife Network on Wednesday, May 22 at 12 p.m. ET for a Facebook Live event featuring VA Mental Health Apps and TeleMental Offering.

Dr. David Carroll,  Executive Director VA Mental Health Operations; Dr. Christina Armstrong, Clinical Psychologist, Connected Health Implementation Strategies and Crystal Niehoff, President, the Amry Wife Network, will answer audience questions on these technologies and discuss how these technologies are helping to deliver care when and where it is needed.

With VA Mental Health Apps, Veterans can use technology they already have, like a personal computer, tablet or smartphone, to help them manage PTSD-related symptoms and stress with support on learning to practice mindfulness and strengthening parenting skills. Many of these apps are designed to supplement work with a therapist and add to care between appointments. Others are self-guided and can help with tips for managing stress tracking progress over time.

Last May, VA expanded Telehealth by allowing providers to treat patients across state lines, enabling more Veterans nationwide to receive care at home.  This also expanded TeleMental offerings and provides Veterans’ access to critical mental care virtually — such as mental health care and suicide prevention.

During the Facebook Live event, our experts will discuss how these technologies are helping to deliver care when and share information about future enhancements of these tools and technologies.
