PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that on any given day there are nearly 50,000 homeless veterans on the streets.
In Portland, officials estimate that about 43 percent of the people living on the streets are veterans. A new charity hopes to change that number, one veteran at a time.
