Oregon’s 80th Blue Star marker placed at veterans home

LEBANON — Oregon’s 80th Blue Star Memorial Marker in honor of those who have served or will serve in the military, was dedicated Thursday morning at the Edward C. Allworth Veterans Home.

The first marker in Oregon was placed about nine miles north of Eugene on Highway 99 on June 23, 1949.

On Thursday, the marker was placed in Lebanon due to the efforts of the Lebanon Garden Club of the Santiam District, the Lebanon Zenith Women’s Club, the Rollin’ Oldies Car Club and American Legion Post 51 and Auxiliary.
