Local woman veteran becomes commander for veteran organization

MEDFORD, Ore. – There’s a new commander for the Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 8.

Alice Thomsen is the first woman veteran to become commander for the organization, DAV, which helps ill and injured veterans.

It’s been around for 38 years and Thomsen says she’s grateful for the position.

“It’s been an honor to be with the Disabled American Veterans for many years, but it has always been a privilege to serve veteran and help and help veterans,” Thomsen said.
