Roseburg VFW Post Hosts Operation Homefront Toy Drive

ROSEBURG, Ore. — The Roseburg VFW is teaming up with Dollar Tree as part of this year’s Operation Homefront Holiday Toy Drive.
This is the seventh year VFW Post 2468 has helped out in this drive.

The Roseburg and Sutherlin Dollar Tree locations gave them about 200 boxes of toys this year.

On the 18th, veterans and their families will come in, and will get to shop for as many toys as they need for their family.

“We do a head count, and give them a grocery sack and let them fill up whatever they need. We’re going to have 14 tables full of these toys, and we keep adding to it. When we deplete one table, we’ll just keep adding to it,” said VFW Quartermaster Mike Eakin.

Eakin said leftover toys will still find a home in the community.

“What I try to do is, if we don’t get rid of all of them, then what I do is contact different agencies here in the community that could use toys, and we make sure everyone gets something. Do it for the community.”

The toy drive will run from 10 am to 4 pm at VFW Post 2468 in Roseburg.
