Before his passing over the weekend, Bob Maxwell was the oldest living recipient of the Medal of Honor in the United States for his bravery and heroism as a soldier in World War II. In a special extended version of War Stories this week, Central Oregon Daily’s Warren Schultz looks at the longtime Bend resident’s life and legacy in a story that was originally run in 2017.
Bob Maxwell passed away at the age of 98 on Saturday night. Our condolences go out to the Maxwell family and all of his friends and fellow veterans in Central Oregon.
