The flag-draped casket of Navy Ensign Verdi D. Sederstrom arrived on a Delta Airlines flight Tuesday at Baltimore/Washington International Airport. Sederstrom, who graduated from Salem High School in 1935, will be buried Wednesday at Arlington National Cemetery. He was killed Dec. 7, 1941, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, but his remains weren’t identified until 75 years later through DNA and dental records. His family was notified last November and is now back east to attend the burial.
