At the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) VFW Post 2848 meeting in Bay City, a decision was made to provide $500 to CARE, Inc. in the relief effort. The VFW Post placed the following priority on the donation:

Any remaining funds that are not distributed, the VFW wants the money to be applied towards supporting veterans that meet the financial need criteria for the monthly Tillamook County Transportation District bus pass.
CARE, Inc. has managed a veteran transportation donation from the Elks Lodge in the past. The VFW donation that is not dispersed during the federal furlough would be used in a similar fashion to the Elks Lodge donation.

Coast Guard and furloughed Federal workers in need of assistance should contact CARE Inc. at 503-842-5261 or visit their offices at 2310 First St., Suite 2, Tillamook. CARE can provide a variety of services and can also connect those in need with other available community resources.
